13 years ago, I was right where you are—filled with hope, excitement, passion, and a bit of nervousness. You’ve worked tirelessly to graduate and are now embarking on your journey to becoming a fully licensed therapist.
My career has been built on diverse experiences—from working with at-risk populations in hospitals and community mental health settings to private practice, schools, and women’s advocacy centers. I’ve also spent the last several years navigating and getting a deeper understanding of how therapists can work with the growing segment of mental health tech companies. There is a lot to consider when you embark on this journey, and my varied experiences have shaped my approach to supervision, giving me a deep understanding of the many paths our careers can take.
One of the most fulfilling parts of my career has been mentoring and supervising LPC-Associates. My background as an educator naturally drew me to support early-career therapists in growing their clinical skills and navigating their careers.
I learned firsthand the importance of choosing the right supervisor. My first choice wasn’t the right fit, and switching to someone who truly supported me made all the difference. My second supervisor became (and still is!) a lifelong mentor and friend—compassionate, resourceful, and deeply invested in my success. She shaped my approach to supervision and helped me build a strong foundation in this field.
